Graphic Design ONE and TWO

Graphic Design is offered in two levels: 1A/1B (intro) and 2A/2B (advanced).  Each course is a year-long, & fulfills the CHS visual art requirement for graduation.  Graphic Design also meets the A-G "Visual or Performing Art" requirement, and is a Career Technical Education (CTE) course in the Arts, Media, and Entertainment Pathway. 

Graphic Design 1A-1B is designed to help students explore their artistic creativity while using computers as the primary artistic medium. This course will cover the basics of art, including the elements and principles of design, color theory, art history, and creative expression. Students will become proficient with Adobe programs such as Photoshop and Illustrator. Projects will include Photo Corrections, Book Covers, CD Covers, Posters, Self Portraits, Logo Designs, Snowboards, and more. 

 

Graphic Design 2A-2B is a continuation of the beginning course, offered to students who have successfully completed Graphic Design 1A-1B in a previous school year. Students will be given opportunities to expand upon their previously acquired skills, continuing to grow as artists, designers, and creative thinkers. This course will cover advanced graphic design concepts such as typography, layout & design, and artist/client relations. This course will also revisit basic art principles such as the elements of art, color theory, art history, and creative expression. Students will become proficient with Adobe programs such as Photoshop and Illustrator. Projects will include Business Card and Letterhead Design, Currency Design, Menu Design, App Icon Design, Font Design, and more.
